With hindsight, I have gained a deeper respect and appreciation for the work we do, its ephemeral nature and transformational potential. The power of architects through design to enhance everyday lives, the opportunity to influence a brighter future, and the responsibility of stewardship, is untold; the prospects limitless.

Where would we be today if the inventors of yesteryear had the computing power and virtually instantaneous access to information we enjoy today? We are here with immeasurable resources and infinite promise.

Yesterday's preparations, today's dreams and tomorrow's fulfillment,
let's meet and discuss the possibilities.

A shiny and new canister of Elgo Bricks, of various sizes and shapes, along with beams, windows and doors, stirred my curiosity and started me on my journey into the world of architecture. When my grandfather drove us by Pei’s Hancock Tower, on our way to Fenway Park, I was awestruck. Gleaming glass curtain walls and sharp expressive angles; I knew I’d become an Architect!

RISD offered an opportunity to learn in a rich setting of historic layers spanning several centuries. Working for some time on a drawing board, I refined aptitudes retained to this day. An appreciation for attention to detail, a nurtured measure of fortitude and patience, are all necessary when every swipe of the electric eraser steals critical pulp from the paper. Returning to school in later years, I built a bridge across the digital divide, earning several certificates and reinforcing my confidence in a new set of skills. The availability to create instantaneous renderings and 3D printing to further study projects, enhance communication, and engage a wide audience was unimaginable in the days of dial up modems.

My facility to create, using a combination of today’s digital magic, traditional architectural skills, and my extensive experience, will benefit your endeavors. I am grateful for opportunities to bring dreams to fruition.

Revit Family Reunion
Palace of Fine Arts

The exercise was conceived to explore applications for Revit modeling beyond the realm of conventional architecture.

Assembled using strategic ‘rigging’ practices adapted from 3ds Max, along with continued ‘flexing’ throughout the creation process assured desired flexibility. Multiple versions of the resulting figures were then posed to suggest an exchange between the staged characters.

Additional rendering output from Revit, photographic assets and shadows are composited in Photoshop. Layering and masking techniques are applied to create a singular unifying portrayal, a postcard, of the Revit Family Reunion at the Palace of Fine Arts.
